MLP pony buttons and life craziness

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 17, 2011, 8:31 AM

Oh man, my life is so crazy right now, between work, class, trying to stay in shape over the winter, and of course, making buttons. I haven't had time to do art in forever, it's very sad. :( Gaaaah, I want to draw... all I've done so far is doodles on the sticky notes in my office. I am super stressed right now, hopefully things will calm down in December and Ic an actually sit down and do some art (maybe even none button related art for once, yay!).

I went to Another Anime Con (yes, that's actually the name of the con) in New Hampshire, and it was so much fun. Nice and small, not too stressful, and we had the coolest neighbors EVER: :iconkitcat4056: and :icondixxy:

:icondixxy: was dressed as Applejack and :iconkrazikupo: and I were dressed as Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, respectively, so it worked out perfectly. :D And :iconkitcat4056: was dressed in various Hellsing costumes all weekend (so cool!). You should check out their cool clay creations, I currently own a pair of their clay earrings (red gameboys) and they are awesome!

Speaking of My Little Ponies, here are some of the pony buttons I made of the mane six:

Pony Buttons!

You can but them, and the rest of the pony buttons (Bronies, Big Macintosh, Dr Whooves, DJ PON-3, etc) here: [link] (buttons are only $1 each!!)

I'm working on pony buttons for anime Boston (I am so addicted to that show, it's not even funny).

Anyone going to Otakon? I'll be going to my first Otakon this weekend, though simply as an attendee, not an artist, so I'll actually have time to enjoy the con! XD Maybe I'll see some of you there?

Help Japan - Buy a Button, Buy a Shelterbox

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 20, 2011, 6:13 PM

Buy the edition charity buttons here: [link]

As you all know, on March 11th, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake shattered thousands of lives on Japan. As of today, the death toll has reached over 8,000 people, with up to 15,000 people missing and over half a million without homes. Furthermore, the Fukushima nuclear plant is dealing with radiation leaks that could contaminate the nearby area further and put more lives at risk.

In cooperation with Beyond Victoriana, Button Me Up will be selling special limited-edition buttons to raise money for the international aid organization Shelterbox to help provide for the devastated survivors of this mounting tragedy. Shelterbox is an international aid organization that provides aid supplies to people in the wake of disaster.

Each of these limited edition buttons costs a mere $2 each. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of all profits made from the sale of these buttons will go toward Shelterbox. There are three different button options to choose from, each incorporating an aspect unique of Japanese culture. The moon bunny was designed by :iconkrazikupo: and myself, the helping hands were done by :iconjesidres:, and the steampunk sakura was done by myself for Beyond Victoriana.

In addition, we’re not just doing online sales–from now until the end of Labor Day weekend, SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2011, these limited edition buttons will be sold at various steampunk-related events and north east anime conventions. Contributions will be made directly to Shelterbox throughout the summer.

Since this will be a community effort, everyone deserves to be recognized for their contribution. When you purchase a button you have the option of including your name as part of Beyond Victoriana‘s Rising Phoenix Circle. The Rising Phoenix Circle is a spot where we can express our goodwill in thanks to the generosity of the steampunk community and spotlight these special donors. Please leave a comment or send me a note when you purchase with the name you would like to be listed under to be included in the Circle. If you do not leave a comment I will assume you wish to remain anonymous. When buying in-person, please let me know if you want to be added to the Circle.

Moreover, every donor will earn a chance to win a special prize pack, featuring autographed books, prints & more. Let me know if you wish to be included in the raffle.

Donors do NOT have to have their name displayed as part of the Rising Phoenix Circle in order to enter the giveaway. Donors do NOT have to enter the giveaway either.  The Rising Phoenix Circle and additional raffle pack are gestures of goodwill to express our gratitude for buying a button toward our cause, and donors are under no obligation to participate in either. Giveaway winners will be announced after the end of the fund raising period on September 5th, 2011.

Check out our partner, Beyond Victoriana's website to learn more and get updates: [link]

In the meantime, buy a button.
Wear it with pride.
Spread the word.

Update

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 1, 2011, 7:10 AM

Hi everyone!

How were your holidays? I got fat over the holidays and am excited to be going to the gym again.

I'm crazy busy at the moment preparing for Anime Boston, I've made a bunch of new buttons, which hopefully I will be posting soon. :) Some of them will be available for sale on my etsy shop here: [link] so don't worry if you can't make it to AB, you can still buy buttons online (and of course you can always send me a note on DA if you want to buy buttons).

It keeps snowing here. I AM SO SICK OF SNOW. It seems like we have a huge blizzard at least once a week. I wish it were April. D:

Basically my life consists of work, going to the gym, and working on button stuff, lather, rinse, repeat. ;)

30 Death Eater comics!

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 25, 2010, 6:02 AM

Wow, I realized last night that I just hit thirty death eater comics! Yay! :D The next one is going to be posted on Halloween (it will be the 31st comic, how appropriate!). I'm so excited for Halloween! It's my favorite holiday.

I'm going to see how many more comics I can churn out before I lose steam and switch to a different project. I have two story archs I really want to do (one of which involves Hermione) so hopefully I can churn both of those out. I wish the comics didn't take so long to do. D: At least I'm getting to the point where I can draw them more quickly.

Three more days until the new Death Eater comic!

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 30, 2010, 7:25 AM

Only three more days, I'm so excited! Look for the new comic this Sunday! :D This time there are six comics coming out with a short wait in between each comic (they're going to be released one at a time) so you won't have to wait months in between. ^_^; I've been playing with the style a bit (though probably not noticeably) as my artwork has improved since the first comic, though I still struggle with backgrounds. ^_^; My BFF, :iconzanris: has also promised to help me with some of the writing. She's an awesome writer, and extremely funny, so she said she would help me out and give me feedback on some of the future scripts. I'll still be doing most of the writing, but with her help they're probably going to improve a lot since I'm not much of a writer on my own. ;) And most of my humor stems from facial expressions and whatever I think is funny at three in the morning. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the upcoming comics! And as always I love feedback, opinions, questions, and requests for comics.

To celebrate a month of comics, here's a lovey a picture the lovely Halloween image :iconmummymetaller: drew for me:

It's Snape dressed as Béla Lugosi's Dracula and Morgan's dressed as a Xenomorph (the Alien from the aliens franchise).

You can commission your own awesome picture from her (she's tight for money right now, so would appreciate the money, her prices are really low ;)): [link]

Still no internet

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 18, 2010, 4:02 AM

*sigh* My computer had to be repaired, but then I got it back and my internet went out. D: Our internet providers were stupid and came by twice, and didn't fix it either time, so we're switching to a new company. I miss you interwebs! It also means I'm having to postpone putting up my etsy shop for the buttons. Warbghl. DX You can still buy them from me through DA though.

Hopefully I'll have internet at home by next week. Keep your fingers crossed!

Computer problem and thieves

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 22, 2010, 7:14 AM

Sadly my poor Macbook is not turning on properly so I had to send it to Apple to fix it. Which means I won't have any internet access at home until it gets repaired (around two weeks). D: Ugh. I'll still have internet at work (but obviously I'll be working so I won't have much time to check personal stuff), and I can get emails on my phone, but that's about it.

Unfortunately, my poor friend, :iconkeevs:, had her design concept stolen by a well known artist who is notorious for tracing art and stealing other artist's ideas (she has her own ED page). This person proceeded to use Keevs' concept on a T-shirt and sold over 3,000 shirts on Woot. The worst part? The thief in question went to her booth at Anime Next, and bought stickers from her, then ripped the concept from the sticker she bought!

:iconkeevs: discusses it here: [link]

Thankfully Keevs contacted the site about the theft, and was able to get it taken down for now. She is pursuing legal action.

I don't think I'll be able to do gift or trade art in the future except for rare occasions since I just get so busy with other things. :< I'll just stick to commissions and my own work.

Here's who I know I owe art too:
:iconmetasyke: robot character and Morgan (please send me a new reference link!)
:iconjade-magic: kiriban of her three OCs

Post-con report

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 4, 2010, 3:24 PM

Boy am I tired! Anime Boston was a ton of fun, but pretty exhausting. I didn't get to leave the Artist's Alley so I didn't see much, but I got to meet tons of awesome people who stopped by my table. And the cosplay was awesome! It made me wish I could pull of cosplay.

Thank you to everyone who bought buttons and stopped by my table! For those of you who are coming here after getting one of my business cards, I hope you like my gallery! If I met you at the con, let me know who you are!

We used up the last of our button making supplies on Sunday, so I'll have to order more soon. :) For those of you who didn't make it to the con I'm going to be offering buttons for sale online, and I'm trying to figure out the pricing for button commissions for those of you who want me to make you custom buttons.

In the mean time I'm going to work on some Harry Potter comics, my original characters, and the ultimate DA tutorial 3.0 now that the con is over.

Scanner/printer suggestions

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 15, 2010, 5:22 AM

You may have noticed I'm updating lately. :) That's because I'm getting ready for Anime Boston. Once the con is over I can start going back to my old art like carnival stuff and more Death Eater comics, yay! I had one comic sketched, but didn't like how it came out so I'm redoing it. Yes I'm picky. And slow. But my scanner is broken now so I couldn't have scanned it anyway.

So yes, my printer/scanner is broken and now I have to get a new one. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a new printer/scanner? What brands do you like?
